I did quite a bit of research on this particular model, so I was pretty confident about my purchase. So far, it’s great! The touch screen responds to the finger or the nail. You must make sure that when you touch your selection, that you give it a second to register, and hold your finger/nail there longer than just a tap. The remote has alot of buttons and is the size of a tv remote, but that doesn’t bother me a bit. Overall, I am very pleased with this product.

Single Din 7-Inch Touch Screen DVD Player with Built in Bluetooth, XM Radio Ready, Rear View Camera input and Made for iPod

I’ve owned this item for almost one year and so far I’m very pleased with it. Installation into my 1998 4Runner took about 30 minutes, and all of the features work well. Bluetooth connection to my phone was a cinch, and I really like the auto-answer feature. Sound is great for music/calls, and the microphone for calls is adequate. Video playback is good and I haven’t found any media that it won’t work with.

The minor complaints are small. The iPod module always defaults to NOT shuffle, so every time you start the car you have to reselect shuffle. There is no dedicated shuffle button on the remote, which is doubly annoying because there is a button for repeating a song (which option is more likely to be invoked?). The touch screen is not very easy to use, and repeated presses are often needed (always on the shuffle icon).

I’ve looked at the manufacturer website for a firmware upgrade (hopefully to fix those issues) and no luck. Today the website was completely non-functional so hopefully they’ll get sorted out soon.

All in all, this is a great unit that does much more than many of the comparably priced competitors offerings. I’ve received many compliments on it, and have no trouble recommending it to someone (though I do point out the annoyances, as they are a daily nitpick).

Price has gone up since I bought it, but it is still an excellent deal considering a conventional AM/FM/CD will run almost as much in the double-din format (I have a 2000 Toyota Tacoma). Have seen complaints about the display being dim, but this is not the case (there is a DIM button on the unit and it cycles through the brightness levels). Have also seen complaints about needing the remote control to access certain functions – also not true. All the functions, including setup are available on the touch screen. There is apparently a 2GB limit to the SD cards (I haven’t tested this with larger cards since 2GB cards are dirt cheap and hold huge amounts of music) and the unit takes two of them plus has a USB port and an ipod connection. The only inconvenient thing is that the Bluetooth capability uses a microphone on a wire instead of having it built into the unit but that actually makes sense since most double-din units are located low on the dashboard. Bluetooth quality is excellent. DVD player plays DivX and XviD videos. Overall terrific value.
